Nabble removed Mailing-list integration from the Forum.
This killed the Forum. This is now an ARCHIVE.
It is likely Nabble will shutdown in the future.

So basically the Forum is now out of date, we are looking into migrating the history.

OpenSCAD support is now provided by the Mailing List.

Feature request: add URL fetching to all file read options

clothbot
Hey Clifford,

Please consider adding URL fetching support (via the QT API hooks) to
all the file read options; STL, DXF and <file.scad> functions.

I'd want a caching version to support off-line use, but the primary
motive is to directly reference the source (e.g. multiple thingiverse
entries) instead of having machine-local copies, to better manage sub-
part revisions and track inherited licensing.

Thanks!

Andrew.

That's a pretty neat suggestion.  I would certainly use it.

Yeah, seriously cool.  The only downside is that your .scad files could break if the files change or disappear.  The pro's definitely outweigh the cons though.
