which formats does OpenSCAD support?

buhtz
Hi,
I am interested in that model
<http://www.3dcontentcentral.de/secure/download-model.aspx?catalogid=171&id=587075>.

The download section offers a lot of file formates but nothing like
"OpenSCAD". So I think about which one I should use here to reuse that
model in OpenSCAD.

I don't want to modify it. I just want to use it as a placeholder to
build my own model around it.

thank you for help

If one of the formats is .STL, there is an STL to OpenSCAD converter or two on Thingiverse. The output is a series of joined polygons, a huge amount of code for the more complex models, but it may do as you need.

STL is the only 3D format you can import into OpenScad.

Re: which formats does OpenSCAD support?

Hypher
FreeCAD can be very useful in cases like this. You can import most formats into it, use it to simplify things, and then export as STL for importing into OpenSCAD.
