feature request: copy of display window

Peter Falke
Hi,

often I wish I could just do a copy of the display window and then (e.g.) paste the picture into an email. Is this a thing other people would be using, too?
Is this something difficult to do, or are there already routines on the (window, unix, MAC) operation system that can do that.

Sincerely,

'Export as Image'  in the design menu. sample output attached ;)

I know, export as image works fine.
I`m just a lazy bastard. And some things I just get used to from other programs.

By the way: nice wheels, man.

On a Mac you can do the following:

[command][control][shift][4] allows you to select an area of the screen, it then copies it to the clipboard so that you can paste it wherever you'd like.

[command][shift][4] creates an image of the selected area as I file saved to your desktop.

After pressing the keys, you can select a screen area via the mouse, or press [space] to select the whole window that the mouse is currently over.

Re: feature request: copy of display window

Taylor Alexander
What is wrong with export as image again? You just want the image copied directly to your clipboard? I suppose that would be useful, but if export as image is there it seems like that would be fine unless we had lots of developers looking to spend some time on this app, which is sadly not the case.

Ok, I rest my case.
People dont miss this, export image works, and there are more useful, interesting things to code.

Re: feature request: copy of display window

Taylor Alexander

Hah, hey it happens. I recently had an amazing idea for a Facebook feature, until I found that it basically already does it. Still not as good though. Realistically its an excellent suggestion - certainly we should be able to copy the output to the clipboard. Just not enough dev time sadly.

At least with (some versions of) Linux, tapping the PrtScn key takes a
screenshot and (optionally) tucks it into the clipboard. I generally
open it in an image editor, tight-crop the object, maybe resize it, save
the file, and *then* mail it off, but some email clients (not the one
I'm using) let you go directly from clipboard to attachment.

With XFCE, you get a screenshot gadget with a passel of options.

Works for me, anyhow...
