can't project mcad gears?

matthew venn
Hi all,
was wondering if anyone knew why this doesn't work?

use </home/mattvenn/cad/openscad/MCAD/gears.scad>;
projection() gear(number_of_teeth=20,circular_pitch=20);

without projection, I get a gear as expected.

First of all, MCAD is included in the OpenSCAD distribution so your import can be simplified to:

use <MCAD/gears.scad>;

I'm not real familiar with this library, but it seems that the gear is already a 2d shape so the projection there is redundant. You can either remove the projection or insert a linear_extrude.

Hope that solves your problem.
