boost 1.53

chrysn
hello openscad developers,

debian is transitioning to boost 1.53, and i'd like to inquery about the
state of current boost version support in openscad.

an august 2012 post claims that 1.48+ cause trouble; is that still
current? the respective issues #174 and #177 are closed.

the thing is: libboost 1.53 seems not to provide the -mt libraries any
more (at least that's what the bug report i received in debian[1] says).

could you clarify on the compatible boost versions?

i can patch out the -mt part for debian, but chances are other
distributions are affected too.

best regards
chrysn

Re: boost 1.53

Hi, there is Boost 1.53 in Fedora and OpenSCAD package builds just fine. If I understand it correctly, this should be Debian specific, according to the linked bug.

Right now, I'm just answering from my mobile phone, so I have no abbility to browse the code, but will look at it tomorrow. OpenSCAD in Fedora has no mt patches, in fact (if I remember it right) it has no patches at all.

I've been using 1.53 on Mac for the last few months without problems.

I think the boost-2.48 issue was related to CGAL, clang and perhaps even Qt bugs. I would think it's fixed by now.
I'd like to have a buildbot set up to build various combinations of libraries, but it's a somewhat large scripting task.
