Wiki Cleanup? Time to flush pre 2015.03 qualifications?

I've been to the wiki a bit lately.
I've come across many things like '[Note: Requires version 2015.03]' & 'For
2013.05+, the option to...' & 'Note: For Windows, in versions prior to
2014.02.22 there is a bug...'.

This  page
<https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/Using_OpenSCAD_in_a_command_line_environment>
goes back pre 2013.

I suggest it is time to start rebasing the Wiki to 2015.03. Removing all
older qualifications and presuming all 2015.03 features are extant and not
requiring specific mention.
Note I said 'start' it will have to happen over time of course.

Is there any reason not to? Objections?

Unless specifically shown otherwise above, my contribution is in the Public Domain; to the extent possible under law, I have waived all copyright and related or neighbouring rights to this work. Obviously inclusion of works of previous authors is not included in the above.

Anyone know if the Wiki can be archived for posterity and/or whether that
would be a waste of space?

This would clearly improve the readability.

That was the first idea that sprung to my mind.

We have a "printable" version:
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/The_OpenSCAD_Language
This is a good base for archival.

You can use {{subst: to substitute the include with its content.
Then such a "printable" Version could be archived as a separate page.
This page could then be blocked from editing as it is an archive.

You can also create a PDF from this page and archive that.

If we are lazy, we could simply look if a web archive has backed up the
"printable" version and/or the separate pages.

With Kind regards,
Michael Frey

The wiki preserves the history of edits.
For example, in "Using_OpenSCAD_in_a_command_line_environment",
there was a change in Nov 2011:
(removed old syntax transition (affected releases before 2010.02, now we're at 2011.06))

So that documentation for the 2010 version of OpenSCAD is still accessible to historians. A quick google search shows that there are tools for migrating historical data out of a mediawiki and into a git repository, which would then give you a more automated way to explore the OpenSCAD Manual's historical versions. So I wouldn't worry about archiving the current Manual before making changes.

Here are tools for downloading the full history of the OpenSCAD Manual, without having shell access to wikibooks.org:

Here is an easier way:
https://web.archive.org/web/20180425001407/https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/The_OpenSCAD_Language

Looks like there are sporadic captures back to 2009 too.

I'll add these references to the wiki somewhere.
