Stuck in Thrown Together view

I was rendering a model and it was taking forever so I closed the OpenSCAN process and reopened it and now I get this message when I open any model and it will not get out of Thrown Together view.  I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it and nothing has changed.  I am running version 2015.03-1. Any ideas?  I am kind of at a stand still until I can get this working again.

It is highly recommended to use OpenSCAD on a system with OpenGL 2.0 or later.

Also if I try to render the model I get the message:

Not sure but the error suggests you're running on a system with very old OpenGL drivers.
Do you have a newer system, or can you update your drivers ?

It is a new computer, OpenSCAD had been working just fine for a couple of weeks.  Things just went haywire when I killed the process during a render.

I installed GLView and ran the test with it and it worked just fine with OpenGL 1.1 - 1.5 and 2.0

Also, please make sure you use the latest version of OpenSCAD; 2015.03-2 - just so we eliminate any bugs fixes since the previous release.

Thanks. This not only says OpenGL 1.1, but it say it couldn’t find any graphics cards and uses Microsoft’s software renderer, which is no good.

Could you post the corresponding output from GLView?

Not sure what else I would recommend right now. Are all other applications working well? Have you tried reinstalling the graphics drivers, in case your system has gotten confused? Reinstalling OpenSCAD?
It sounds a bit like a light case of system corruption to me.

So windows installed some updates last night and restarted my computer and everything seems to be working fine now.  This make no sense to me but at least it is working.  I will let you know if it occurs again.

I ran into the same issue again.  Here is what I was doing when this happened.

I was working on a library of drawing functions in one file and a test file that tests one drawing function at a time.  Once I had my library changes done and working I opened a real file that use a lot of functions of the drawing library and then OpenSCAD crashed and now I can't get it to even display my test file.  Now when I click Help -> Library Info it crashes OpenSCAD.

I rebooted my computer and the same thing happens.

Could you post the corresponding output from GLView?

Not sure what else I would recommend right now. Are all other applications working well? Have you tried reinstalling the graphics drivers, in case your system has gotten confused? Reinstalling OpenSCAD?
It sounds a bit like a light case of system corruption to me.

Could you post the corresponding output from GLView?

Not sure what else I would recommend right now. Are all other applications working well? Have you tried reinstalling the graphics drivers, in case your system has gotten confused? Reinstalling OpenSCAD?
It sounds a bit like a light case of system corruption to me.

To check if this could be a problem with a 3rd party library we’re using, it would be helpful if you’d be willing to test the previous few versions of OpenSCAD on your computer and see if you get any different behavior.
Testing both 32-bit and 64-bit version might also reveal some differences.

I installed new video card drivers yesterday and now when I start OpenSCAD in displays the initial open recent files window, not matter what option I choose New or Open Recent, Open Example, etc, the window goes away and OpenSCAD never starts and there is no process running and no error message of any kind.  This happens on all versions of OpenSCAD even the 3 older versions you posted.  So I am guessing there is something screwy with my system.  Not sure how to proceed from here.  Maybe I can try doing a system restore in Windows and rolling back installed updates.

Actually the oldest version posted  (OpenSCAD-2014.03-x86-64.zip) did run but failed to compile my library but it does work correctly with the examples.

Another diagnostics idea:
Test MeshLab: http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/

MeshLab is well known and use the same GUI framework as OpenSCAD.
If that also fails, we’ve isolated the problem quite a bit.

Thanks. That, together with the fact that MeshLab works, points towards that this has something to do with us upgrading from Qt4 to Qt5.

Does anyone know about any other Qt5-based 3D software we could test against?

Just FYI, I got OpenSCAD to work again.  Here is what I did.

1) Uninstalled OpenSCAD
2) Remove EVERY reference to OpenSCAD in the Windows Registry
3) Installed latest version OpenSCAD

It now seems to be working fine.

Just FYI, I was able to replicate this problem and fortunately my solution worked again.  This time I was doing a batch conversion from a directory of a bunch scad files and exporting them to stl files.  Half way through I realized there was an issue with my scad files and I aborted the command line batch script.  Doing this made it so that OpenSCAD would start but not actually open any files, it would just get the intro window of recent files and when I would selected any option it would go away and OpenSCAD would never actually start.  

So this earlier solution I posted worked again fortunately.
