Slower Upgrade?

Jeshua Lacock

Greetings,

I just upgraded to 2013.01 from 2011.12 and the 3D performance is a fraction of the older version.

2013.01 is so choppy I have reverted back to 2011.12 for the time being.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Can you give us a little more information about your setup? What
operating system? Video card? 32/64 bit?

Sorry! I am running Mac OS X 10.7.4 on a Hackintosh.

3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 (Asus mobo) running an ATI Radeon HD 6xxx (not sure of the exact model I can find out if helpful)...

Thanks!

Hello folks,

I have the same issue here.

Box1: Intel i5-3570, 16GB DDRIII RAM, 256GB SSD, nVidia GTX560
Box2: Intel i5-550m, 4GB DDRIII RAM, 128GB SSD, Intel Graphics

Both systems are running ArchLinux.

Kind regards,

I have 2013.01.23 and the 3d performance is the same as always.

Gentoo Linux, 32 bit core duo, nVidia GeForce Go 7300 w/ nvidia binary driver

I'm not nay-saying, just providing another data point

I'd like to say that I'm not using any precompiled binaries but compile
it myself.

Hi all,

Could you open the Help/Library Info/Details, and copy/paste the
information there to here? Especially the GL driver /vendor info?

I am not 100% sure what exactly that is here on Mac OS X, but does this help?

Re: Slower Upgrade?

Under OpenSCAD, there is a help menu. It has an item named library
info. Under there it will dump the driver details based on information
from the GL Renderer that OpenSCAD is using (i think we are using GLEW
to figure this out). Thanks

Re: Slower Upgrade?

One other test would be helpful.

Is there a difference in 3d speed between

1. Throwntogether mode (view menu)
2. OpenCSG mode (f5)
3. CGAL renderer mode (f6)

?

Could you provide some more info about your use-case?
e.g., an example model and exactly what is behaving slower in the latest version.

on gentoo, everything is compiled. I wrote some ebuild scripts so my
package manager handles the bulk of it for me; just have to emerge
openscad every so often, it pulls latest git head, builds and installs
without further intervention

tl;dr: mine is compiled 'by me' too
