OpenSCAD and costumizer

Peter Falke

Hi,

my feeling is that the user base got broader recently with the advent of costumizer on thingyverse.
Thus the current thing to do is,  IMHO, to re-integrate the functionality of user input back into OpenSCAD.
Furthermore there is another site, I forgot witch one, that also introduced a costumizer based on OpenSCAD. I had a look at them recently and they are already developing a slightly different syntax.

On a practical note it would be nice to have a local costumizer front end locally on my computer that I can test my code without having to upload every little change.

Sincerely,

TakeItAndRun

I agree.
This should be doable by adding a auto-generated Customizer GUI to OpenSCAD. It's been discussed a bit - I should write up a feature request to collect ideas.

there is also another CAD site out there with free models / open license
(besides thingiverse, instructables ...) Mostly car related.

I learned about that site last week, but was to stunt/distracted to take
a note on the URL ...

I believe the drawings there were also scalable /customizeable. At least
we played around with a couple of drawings.

regards

peter
