No console or editor window!

Jim Ford
This post has NOT been accepted by the mailing list yet.
I've just installed OpenSCAD on my Xubuntu 12.10 setup, and have started to have a play.

Initially a console and editor window appeared, but now they've both disappeared, and no amount of toggling the 'Hide Editor' or 'Hide Console' menu items bring them back. I've also tried reinstalling OpenSCAD - again to no effect.

What's the secret please, before I get bored and give up?

Re: No console or editor window!

rubiksplanet
Edit->Preferences, click on advanced tab and then /untick/ "Enable undocking
of Editor and Console to separate window".

Ensure hide editor is unticked in the view menu as well.

This will force openscad to display the editor window in a docked
configuration, retrieving it from oblivion.

I had a very similar problem to the original post which happened when I
clicked the undock editor button (top right of editor window) and the editor
window vanished into oblivion.  I'm not sure why. But clicking hide/show in
View menu had no effect.   I was able to retrieve the window with the method
above. I think it might have been because I had been using a two screen
setup previously and the editor window might have been displayed off screen
but that's just a guess.
