Linux Problem

stonysmith
I have OpenSCAD version 2015.03-1 installed on an (admittedly low power) ubuntu system.  The machine has only 2gb of memory.

I'm trying to generate a rather simple object, just a hollow hemisphere, thru a command line and about 5 minutes after I start it, I'm getting a message no more informative than just "Killed".

I'm looking for any suggestions to debug the situation.

When I generate the same file in windows, I get this output:
Compiling design (CSG Tree generation)...
Rendering Polygon Mesh using CGAL...
Geometries in cache: 25
Geometry cache size in bytes: 12722880
CGAL Polyhedrons in cache: 1
CGAL cache size in bytes: 102061784
Total rendering time: 0 hours, 9 minutes, 2 seconds
Top level object is a 3D object:
   Simple: yes
   Vertices: 45369
   Halfedges: 241540
   Edges: 120770
   Halffacets: 150814
   Facets: 75407
   Volumes: 2
Rendering finished.

Sounds like the OOM killer (out of memory killer)

https://superuser.com/questions/1150215/disabling-oom-killer-on-ubuntu-14-04

Start by adding a swap file.
