I'm using Catalina 10.15 Beta.
I installed OpenSCAD, but when I try to run it, Catalina will not run it. A dialog box appears that says: "OpenSCAD.app" can't be opened because its integrity cannot be verified. The software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information. It has two buttons "Move To Trash" and "Cancel" I went to System Preferences/Security & Privacy/General and for the "Allow apps downloaded from:" selector I have selected "Anywhere". Anty hints appreciated! -- Sent from: http://forum.openscad.org/ _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |

I posted a bug report with Apple about this. It is probably macOS Catalina bug. Maybe they fix soon. I have an older mac with an older macOS and it runs fine there. -- Sent from: http://forum.openscad.org/ _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |

Oh, btw., are you the same Paul Haeberli who used to work at SGI?
I used a font with that name as a terminal font for the longest time in my IRIX and early post-IRIX life :) -Marius _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |

How to install
1. Get hold of the Catalina installer 2. get this app - 3. Use it to generate an ISO and a VBox disk image (its needs fancy stuff in its EFI partition - the app takes care of that) Make the virtual disk at least 60GB Create a new VM in Virtual box - but use the disk virtual disk previously created - and the ISO image. Run the VM and install Catalina onto your new virtual disk when it’s up and running, you’ll find you cant use the mouse to drag windows. a) Use screensharing to connect to the VM b - alternatively, have the VM capture a USB mouse. it sounds tricky but is not actually that hard to do The Virtual Box forum is good for further assistance. There are instructions for Mojave/Mojave here: Apart from the mouse stuff, Catalina is not much different

Error -67062 does mean that the app isn’t signed. You should still be able to bypass it, but I’m not familiar with macOS beta features. I’m out traveling so I won’t be able to look at this for a while. If you could test other unsigned apps, that could be a good data point.

Holding down the ctrl key while clicking on OpenSCAD should launch and bring up an “open” dialog.
Here’s a screen cap of the successful launch of OpenSCAD on Catalina…. ![]() Code signing and notarization is going to be an ongoing issue and we’ll probably need to pop for the $100 annual developer account if we want this to ever go away.

I tried holding down the ctrl key while clicking on OpenSCAD but that
still fails for me in exactly the same way as double clicking on the application. I'd be happy to donate $100.00 so you can join the developer program. -- Sent from: http://forum.openscad.org/ _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |
Sorry… I was probably was incorrect… I do things so automatically at times I forget the sequence.
I think it’s, hold down the control key, left-click (or secondary click) on OpenSCAD… select “Open”… when the dialog comes up complaining that it doesn’t conform properly, click “Open” anyway. I’m pretty sure that’s the sequence. Let me know if it doesn’t work. > On Jul 24, 2019, at 7:40 PM, Paul Haeberli <[hidden email]> wrote: > > I tried holding down the ctrl key while clicking on OpenSCAD but that > > still fails for me in exactly the same way as double clicking on the > > application. Yeah, the $100 annual Apple fee is an inconvenience, which we'll probably have to extend to other platforms as well.
Apart from the fee, there's some automation work to do, as binaries are built on the CI. For macOS, we currently only build nightlies there, but that will hopefully change eventually. I'm dreaming of cross-platform standardization in this domain, but that's probably not gonna happen : ( -Marius _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |

I plugged a physical mouse into my MacBook and it does not matter
which mouse button I use, I always get a dialog that says: "OpenSCAD.app' can't be opened because it's integrity cannot be verified. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information. To check things over I did a new install of virtual box, Catalina and OpenSCAD from the current binary on the website to my iMac and successfully launched the openscad app.
The only thing I can think of at this point is that I have the developer Catalina beta and I presume you have the open beta. Has anyone had any success running openscad on a virtual box Catalina partition? I’m away from my computer for a few days but when I return and if this issue isn’t resolved I’ll download the public beta and see if I encounter problems. Whether you are using a plug in mouse or trackpad should be immaterial.... as stated, all you should need to do is hold down the control key, secondary click on the OpenSCAD app... a menu should appear and you should primary click on”open” That should reveal the dialog you mention... but there should be a third option of “open”... it’s the use of the control key the makes the third option appear. > On Jul 25, 2019, at 10:21 AM, John Lussmyer <[hidden email]> wrote: > > On Thu Jul 25 10:07:29 PDT 2019 [hidden email] said: >> I plugged a physical mouse into my MacBook and it does not matter > > You might need to change > System Preferences -> Security & Privacy, "Allow apps downloaded from". > > > > -- > > Bobcats and Cougars, oh my! http://john.casadelgato.com/Pets > _______________________________________________ > OpenSCAD mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org _______________________________________________ OpenSCAD mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.openscad.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.openscad.org |
