How I went about my recent Shapeways design

Very nice, Michael.  I did something similar for headless guitar
headpieces: I prototyped in resin for fit, then prototyped in metal from
Shapeways, and then released the design for consumers. Each printing
process has different design constraints and tolerances, but it is now
possible to design a part and then make it available to the world.  In
my case, the part was complex but small, so even though it was made of
metal, it was much cheaper than trying to go to a CNC shop and order 100
parts (of which I would only sell 2).
