Has anyone tried (or has one to try) a joystick with OpenSCAD?

I just came across this joystick/keypad thing.

I'm wondering if joystick movements can control the preview window?

Regardless of the performance, I would not pay $200 for an improved joystick. But that’s just me.

I'm not asking re that specific model, just everyday joysticks.

I'd like joystick-ish navigation too.  But I'd lean towards a spacemouse.  (Some people get it, some don't)

I got one of those, waiting for support to be rolled out.
I thought Spacemouse was different to generic joystick.

Zoom in and out works with the spacemouse, but nothing else.

That very much depends on Operating System and the Driver used.
On Linux without the special spacenavd driver the Space Mouse
simply shows up as multi-axis Joystick, so that sort-of works
with existing prototype (although I don't really like the current
code).
I don't think that would happen on Windows though as there's
probably no driver to map to a generic Joystick interface unless
the proprietary driver supports that.

As for normal Joystick, I tried with a gamepad (I think that
was a X-Box 360 controller at the time) which did work surprisingly
well.

ciao,
  Torsten.

The basic spacemouse is about $65 ish and can be had for less on Ebay.
I use it with lots of other software.   I was skeptical too, till I used one for a day.  I own three now, and I have two at work as well.

Re: Has anyone tried (or has one to try) a joystick with OpenSCAD?

thehans
A space mouse like that has 6 axis of control(basically 3 for
translation and 3 for rotation), while a conventional joystick has 2.
