Feature request: command-line option to render to PNG

Triffid Hunter
Hi,

would be excellent if we could get openscad to render an object and
output an image via command-line options without any graphical
interaction, so we can generate images from makefiles. I'm sure
thingiverse would love it too :)

I started on it: https://github.com/openscad/openscad/blob/visitor/tests/opencsgtest.cc

It's a bit tricky to convince misc. OpenGL drivers to do hardware-accelerated off-screen rendering from the cmd-line. I was fighting with this for a while until I lost momentum..

That was also my immediate thought :)

Can we have an export bitmap option from the GUI in the meantime?

You can do this using the animation function.

Re: Feature request: command-line option to render to PNG

Kliment Yanev
Indeed, so it should be easy to put it in the export menu
