Export animation frames (misleading FR translation)

JackDesBwa
I just discovered how to export animation as frames.
In animation panel, just check "Dump Pictures" and run the animation completely.
Sure, the procedure is not intuitive and might be improved; but here I want to discuss about FR translation.

The FR translation is even more misleading:
The checkbox "Dump Pictures" is translated as "Vider les photos" which is semantically close to "Empty/Clean the photos". This text made me think that is was made to clear an animation cache.
In this context, I would have translated either as "Exporter les images", "Export des images" or "Dump des images".
The first correspond to the verb "export" (the second is a [shorter] noun equivalent), while the third is a noun not officially in french language but commonly used in computer science field.
Also, I use "images" because it is closer to "images par seconde" used to designate framerate and in this context probably a better translation for pictures too.

As a first step, I suggest that someone who has access to the sources change the translation => "Dump des images" is closer to the original and less misleading.
While not fully satisfactory, it is better than current version.
Than, if someone has French knowledge on this list, a discussion about the best terminology can be engaged.
Of course, changing the UI would be better, but it is also a big work for a quite secondary functionality.

No source code access needed for translations. Only a github
account is required to just edit the files via the web interface
(for simple cases, for more extensive changes, a dedicated
editor would be very helpful, e.g. poedit).

Actually right now is a great time to have a look at translations
as the new release will hopefully be out soon. So anything which
could be translated/improved now would have a chance to make it
into the release still.

ciao,

I could provide a Brazilian Portuguese translation. Is there any helping tool or documentation on how to do it?

I meant have 'write access to the repo', but it looks like github creates what it calls a 'pull request' on the fly with the method you exposed (as I read from the documentation).

Looking at the file, it looks like there is a lot of new entries and a few strange ones (not only in the ones marked fuzzy).
I will probably not be able to review the whole file, but I'll try to give a bit of improvement nonetheless.

So I would like to test my proposals before submitting it, but I was not able to figure out how.

I started by cloning the repo, and build the last version (mkdir build && cd build && cmake .. && make -j9)
I also made the .mo file from the .po (sgfmt locale/fr.po -o locale/fr.mo)
I finally found that the binary searches for several places, for example <path of repo>/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/openscad.mo so I copied the generated .mo file there (and strace'ing shows that it opens it successfully).
Unfortunately, it is not sufficient. What is missing ?

I answer to myself, for who reads the archives afterwards:
building with qmake/make (instead of cmake/make) seems to build the translations [https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/OpenSCAD_User_Manual/Building_on_Linux/UNIX]
In particular, it runs ./scripts/translation-make.sh

The original correction, plus a bunch of new translations and other corrections, are now available in the pull-request #2948.
It does not cover the whole set of translatable strings, but at least, it is better than before.
