Bulk conversion of SVGs to SCAD prepared files

Miro Hrončok
Hi,
I've realised I do a lot of those:

1. create a shape in Inkscape
2. create dxf
3. import that dxf to OpenSCAD and call linear_extrude

So simplify this, I've created a Bash script:
https://gist.github.com/hroncok/5635791 - feel free to modify, use or
(re)distribute it, it's public domain.

Thanks!
It sounds like SVG import should get bumped closer to the top of the TODO list..

Re: Bulk conversion of SVGs to SCAD prepared files

Felipe Sanches
Nowadays we convert SVG to DXF and then import it into OpenSCAD.
One issue in that other than the trouble of converting files is that
the decision on the fragment resolution is made at the SVG->DXF
conversion time. If in the future we can import an SVG directly, then
we'll be able to implement such support in a way that we could use $fn
to decide how many segments will be used to interpolate a bezier curve
from the SVG file, for instance.

I opened a issue. No plans yet, but this is the place to put suggestions and discussion about SVG import:
https://github.com/openscad/openscad/issues/369
